Continuing family registration for our 2016-2017 Instrumental Program is now open!
Some highlights of our plans for next year include:
KSMA 10th Anniversary Celebration Weekend:
SAVE THE DATE: 26 & 27 November, 2016
We are excited to prepare for the celebration, and hope to welcome back many former students and teachers to join us for the festivities.
Here are the details of our 2016-2017 Full Calendar
KSMA adds orchestra!
Students will enter orchestra when their teachers believe that they are of the appropriate level in terms of both repertoire and note-reading. Our plan is that our orchestra program will accommodate our students from their KSMA Beginning Orchestra experience until they are ready to join the Repertory orchestra with MYO. This doesn’t mean that students are required to join MYO, just that we want to support the growth of their orchestral skills until the point at which they are at the Repertory orchestra level. Orchestra tuition is included in the base tuition for students of the appropriate level. The orchestra class will meet back to back with group class each week.
Chamber Music at KSMA
We will also begin growing a chamber music program. We will grow our chamber music program from the “top down”; string students will begin chamber music once they have finished our orchestra program. Pianists will also be part of our chamber music program. Chamber music will meet back to back with group class each week, and the tuition is included in our base tuition.
More Community Service Opportunities
These will include a Play-a-thon with HKSMI to raise money for those in Japan who were devastated by the earthquake as well as a formal concert to raise funds in support of the rebuilding efforts in Ecuador after their earthquake.

In order to facilitate the growth of our programs, all string group classes, and the most advanced piano group will be held on Saturdays beginning in 2016-2017. This will allow us to have orchestra and chamber music, as well as ongoing parent education, and more opportunities for community building.
The other change for next year is that families will register for the entire school year in advance. This will eliminate a lot of time and administrative work for our parents and staff alike.
- All families participating in summer lessons will pay a $5000 deposit with registration by 20 June.
- Families who will be gone for the summer will still be required to pay their 2016 tuition by the end of June.
- Scheduling priority will be given to
- families paying for the full year in advance
- in the order in which registration forms are received
- Tuition payments can be made in one or two installments, due by August 15.
- Families paying in one installment
- will only pay one admin fee per child for the year
- have priority in lesson scheduling for the beginning of the year, and for any necessary adjustments
- will not be subject to any mid-year tuition increases which may be assessed (2016-2017 tuition is the same as Spring Term 2015-2016)
We are very excited about the upcoming year!
